Buddy Holly recorded ‘Words Of Love’ on April 8 1957 and it was released later that year on June 20th. Holly harmonized with himself, by combining tape recordings of each part. The song was not a notable hit for Holly, although it is regarded as one of his most important recordings and is available in most standard Holly collections. The Beatles, whose name was inspired by The Crickets, covered the song on their 1964 album ‘Beatles For Sale’.
The subject of this painting was a copy mailed from San Francisco to Buddy Holly’s home in Lubbock Texas in March 1958 and is part of the Buddy Holly Archive.
