Immediate Records released ‘Out of Time’ on 17 June 1966. It entered the UK Singles Charts at No.36 and became Farlowe's only top-10 hit, reaching No.1 on 28th July that year, where it stayed for a week. On the 30th July England won The World Cup, forever marking this moment in England’s history.
Andrew Loog Oldham recruited Mick Jagger to offer him a song, with him suggesting ‘Out of Time’ as a suitable song which Jagger and Richards had written with Farlowe in mind, believing that the song would fit his voice perfectly. The recoding session featured several session musicians, including Jimmy Page on guitar with orchestral arrangement by Arthur Greenslade.
